Vettel ist Weltmeister in der Formel 1 2011

Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel crushed his opposition to score an easy victory in Singapore on Sunday, despite major late-race pressure from McLaren’s Jenson Button, whom he had outrun early on. And it was Button’s presence in second place that prevented Vettel from confirming his second consecutive world championship by a mere point.

Der 24-jährige Red-Bull-Pilot gewann am Sonntag im Nachtrennen von Singapur den 14. von 19 WM-Läufen von der Pole Position aus souverän vor dem Briten Jenson Button im McLaren und Teamkollege Mark Webber aus Australien.

Ein Punkt reicht in Japan
In der WM-Wertung hat Vettel vor den letzten fünf Saisonrennen 309 Punkte auf dem Konto und damit 124 Zähler Vorsprung vor Button (185), der als einziger Fahrer Vettel den Titel rechnerisch noch streitig machen kann. Der Deutsche kann aber im nächsten Rennen in Japan aus eigener Kraft seinen zweiten WM-Triumph perfekt machen, ein Punkt reicht dem Hessen dazu. “Yes, wir haben es geschafft”, brüllte Vettel entsprechend begeistert in den Boxenfunk nach seiner Zielüberfahrt.

Webber, Vorjahressieger Fernando Alonso aus Spanien im Ferrari und Buttons Landsmann und McLaren-Kollege Lewis Hamilton belegten auf dem Stadtkurs die Plätze drei, vier und fünf und sind damit auch rechnerisch aus dem Titelrennen.
